Anchorage Family Estate Pinot Gris 2021, Nelson
Bright, pale gold-yellow colour, lighter on edge. The nose is softly full, fresh aromas of Nashi pear, apple interweave delicate spices and florals. Medium-full bodied, off-dry to taste, Nashi pear, apple melded with a hint of honey, spices and jasmine. The fruit is crisp and vibrant, enriched by a touch of sugar sweetness; lively acidity balances, and lingers with spice to a juicy finish. This elegant Pinot Gris has balanced sweetness and acidity with rich fruited flavours and a vibrant drive. Match with Vietnamese cuisine and Thai fish cakes over the next 2-3 years. Fermented to 12% alc, 20g/l RS. 18/20 pts (90 pts) Oct 2021
Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
Perfectly ripe grapes from our moutere clay ‘Flett Road’ vineyard were combined with the alluvial sandy loams of ‘Lodder Lane’ vineyard, harvested in the cool early mornings at the beginning of March. Cool stainless steel fermentation with brief lees aging has realised intense stonefruit and spice aromas with fantastic palate weight and a long mineral finish.
This richly scented Pinot Gris has delicious aromas of pear and florals. The palate is concentrated and juicy with succulent flavour's of pear and lychee. Subtle sweetness leads into a long lush finish.
